Welcome!

My name is Katherine Fish and I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. I lived there until the fall of 2017, when I moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for college. I was awarded a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship at the University of Alabama, where I maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated early in 2020, attaining a Bachelor’s in News Media with a minor in Political Science.
After graduation, I briefly returned to Lexington before spending two months traveling around Spain and Portugal from July through September of 2021. I moved to Denver, Colorado in November 2021, where I continue to reside. Some of my passions include writing, photography, horticulture, and people. Traveling has allowed me the opportunity to delve into all of these.
Since the summer of 2019 I have journeyed to fifteen different countries through study abroad programs and solo travel. Some of my favorite memories included hiking the Swiss Alps through Switzerland, France, and Italy to complete the 110 mile Tour Du Mont Blanc; a study abroad program through Semester at Sea where I studied in eleven countries, including a riverboat tour of the Amazon Rainforest, an overnight camel trek through the Sahara Desert, and touring the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galápagos Islands; as well as a two month trip through Spain and down the coast of Portugal where I learned to surf.
This unique opportunity allowed me to continue my studies while gaining valuable experience outside the classroom through world exploration. By immersing myself in other cultures, I increased my confidence in interacting with new people. Through this time, I made great strides to improve my ability to communicate (even despite language barriers), remain flexible under pressure, and to be self reliant. Widening my global perspective has inspired me to participate in ethical tourism and sustainable environmental practices for all my future endeavors.
In the spring of 2021, I began working in greenhouses. While there, I discovered a passion for plants that launched me on a path toward sustainable farming and cultivation. I believe that my education in journalism will be an asset to my career, allowing me to forge a path beyond simple hands-on agriculture. I hope to help educate and innovate the world of horticulture through research, documentation, and the proper spread of information.
In the future, I want to use my passions for life on this planet to create a unique career for myself in both journalism and sustainable farming. I aspire to become a distinguished storyteller and an innovative agriculturalist. I strive to educate the public in a professional, yet personal way, working for the benefit and protection of the environment through sustainable practices.
